ABOUT US
Within our many activities we would like to single out the medieval chainmail and armor workshop. Chainmail is a type of armour made out of metal rings with the purpose of preventing minor injuries such as sword, axe or saber cuts and to avoid wound infections. The process we employ, from making the links to the final chainmail product, isn’t much different from the technique used in the Middle-ages. Each of the many chain-links used in the process of making a middle-sized chainmail is hand-opened and closed with into a precise pattern. The patterns differentiate by thickness and by the technique used to put the chains together (i.e. the European, Japanese and Persian techniques). Suits of armour made in our workshop became trademarks of the “Silver Dragons” and are recognisable throughout Croatia, and farther. Our workshop also produces jewelry and modern fashion items made out of the original medieval fabrics and techniques. The Order also offers presentations of medieval fights, armour rental, weapon rental as well as costumed movie extras for different presentations of fantasy and medieval themes.

“The Order of the Silver Dragon” is an association of young people (highschoolers, university students and graduates) founded in 2002, which promotes chivalry, medieval culture, old customs, but also the world of fantasy.
Our coat of arms was designed and painted by Milivoj Ćeran and it represents a silver dragon on a shield. Beneath its wing, that is, next to its tail, is a sword and next to its head is a feather. It symbolises our magazine Grifon and the old saying “A feather is mightier than a sword”. The Orders official colors are red and black. They were selected by Davor Filipan because they are visually appealing, but also because of their symbolism. The red represents passion, energy, knowledge, faith, but also war, blood, esoteric perceptions and mysterious skills. The black is elegant, sophisticated and dominant. Although negative in most of the western culture beliefs, the colour black has much more to it than being merely a symbol of death and grief. It represents power, strength, mystery and rebellion and it matches with almost all the other colors.
